Island of tears

"The island of Courage and Sorrow" (Belarus. Vostra Meinesz I Smutku also the "island of tears") — a memorial dedicated to the Belarusian soldiers-internationalists who died in Afghanistan during 1979-1989 In the war involved more than 30,000 Belarusians, killed 789 people, missing 12 people, maimed 718 people. The complex is located on an artificial island on the river Svisloch, in the heart of Old Minsk, near the Trinity suburb.
